Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have lowered the engine completely in my 996 C2 2002 to be able to mount a motorsport AOS. Since I lowered the engine I had to remove the cross member under the engine. I think I read somewhere that you have to perform a wheel alignment after this operation (since the cross member has been removed). Does anybody have any experience from this? It seems to me that I haven't changed the wheel-alignment since I put the cross member back the way it was... Any experience here?

POST 2Original post

Can't remember, are the cross brace holes slotted? If not, no need to align. I didn't after removing the engine and the tire wear was fine.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No the holes are not slotted. Robert

I assume you have the car supported at the four designated jack points. As long as you don't lower the car onto the floor and move the car without the support installed it should be fine. If you need to push it around your shop, re-install support bar before putting weight on the tires.
