Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hi, i just purchased a 996 with factory taco wing and there is no debris screen over the two vents. does anyone know where to purchase a screen? and how do you keep water from spilling into the air intake? thank you very much. Rod

I have a mrk 1 GT3 wing - the blade type with double air slots into the engine bay. I found heavy screen material at home depot, trimmed to fit, painted silver to match my car colour and then expoxyed them in from inside the air channel. The other solution is to leave them open but bodge up a cover that fits over the tube to the air intake.

POST 3Original post

I've have DD'd my 996 with a taco wing for about 1.5 years and have never had anything fly into the vent. Just saying.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the suggestions. My concern was a bunch of leaves falling into the intake, then the air filter catching them and reducing air flow. The second concern was getting caught in rain ( or even while washing it) and water overwhelming the intake's draining capacity. Thank you again. I really like this site/forum.

POST 5Original post

If you get the K&N intake, it becomes a non issue. It's what I have on my car.

Go on ebay and search on Grill Mesh under Parts & Accessories

Isn't there also a scoop that some people have installed - almost like an RS ram air effect?
