My passenger side has a 1/2 twist in the seatbelt. Can I get any DIY advice on that? Do I have to take it apart? Are there any slides on how to do that if that is the case? It is a '99 Cabrolet if that makes a difference. I did a search on seatbelt and didn't see this described in the last few years so if there is another link to what should be done I would appreciate the heads up. Thanks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just fold the seat belt over it self and feed the belt through the buckle. It will be hard to get the buckle over the folded part of the belt, but it can be done. Make sure you fold the seat belt in the correct direction. If you don't, you will get a "full twist" in the belt.

I have to ask was this a real question?

I tend to agree with Turbodan's comment. Anyway - there is no need to unbolt them if you didn't do that to get them twisted; ask any good topologist. So, yiou should be able to untwist as described.

A: Must be nice to know everything B: You too once were not the font of knowledge you are today. Remember that!

are you saying he was acting like a know it all? I didnt get that at all... I thought his comment was very much "on target" with useful imput ??
He may be talking about it being twisted from the anchor end. I have seen some cars do this before. If it's twisted in the belt, follow above advice and simply re-thread it back through.
Hey, easy on the newbies!!
Yes, I am saying that it is twisted on the anchor end. When you say rethread it back through are you saying to force the fold back into the retractor part? Sorry I'm not that smart
Bring it on by - I will help you.

Well, yes it is nice to know everything, thank you for recognizing that. In any case, you can take the advice in the spirit it was offered or be a wisea$$.
Post some pictures, and we will be able to give more specific suggestions.
+1 for pics hahaha good call!
Since this thread was started in the 21st Century, I assume it is not dead. I just bought a Porsche 2004. 996, and it has a similar problem. The driver's side has a twist, but the passenger side is normal. BUT the buckle on the driver's side faces the wrong way compared to the passenger side, so I was planning to unbolt the belt from the frame rail by the seat to fix it, I think somebody else said just loosen the bolt and rotate the anchor portion 360 degrees and that should make it 'normal.' I was planning to remove and flip the anchor and reattach the bolt. Question is, 'Why does this happen?' I can sort of understand that a twist could occur on the take-up reel, but that's not the problem in my case. Separate but similar problem: My take up reel is weak and only pulls the seatbelt back most of the way, leaving 18" or so flopping around, requiring me to push it back into the reel. Is there a better solution other than exercising the take-up reel a lot to free it up? Thanks! (Love this forum. I've been on other forums where the first reply is "Take it to the dealer you moron.")
