Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, pretty sure this is my first post but; I currently have removed my wheels while my car in winter storage mode for a good friend to refinish since they were looking a little beat up. While he is working on the wheels I decided to attempt to rescue my faded center caps crests. I have removed all four crests and confirmed they are aluminum. My question now is, I cannot tell if these are anodized or plated. Because of the age of these caps I would like to either have re-anodized or re-plated to bring back the bright brass/gold color and then repaint them with the appropriate black and red colors in their respective locations. Has anyone gone this far to rescue their OEM center cap emblems before, and if so what steps did you do to return the brightness to the metal? Polishing is not working (I tried on the back side and it began to wear the coating/coloring off)

POST 2Original post

Electrical engineer here. It's more likely they are anodized. Plating aluminum is a pain. I have not seen center caps in that color combo.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
