Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, I have a 1999 C2 (manual transmission). After a drive, the car sat off for about 15 minutes in the driveway. When I tried starting it to pull into the garage, I didn't hold the key long enough, and the engine spun briefly but didn't start. I turned the key off and tried starting it again, but the engine just turned over without firing up. I repeated this a few times, with the same result. Then, I waited for the oil level clock to finish (took about 34 seconds) before trying again, and the car started right up. No CEL. Any ideas on why this would have happened? I normally wait the 5 seconds for the oil clock, but if its warm and the time is longer I don't wait and it has always fired right up. does the oil level sensor influence ignition? Appreciate any feedback!

POST 2Original post

Is your tachometer moving as the engine is turning over? If no, it's your crank position sensor. They die like this. No warning. Good luck.

it ended up firing up. Ill keep an eye on the tach if it acts up again. thanks!

POST 4Original post

You flooded it on the first attempt to start. Push pedal to the floor if it happens again and see what happens. But, I agree with the above suggestion as well. We are guessing here without having any real information

POST 5Original post
