Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2000 996. Stock engine; Under higher than normal G's (spirited on ramps or when cornering on track) the 'PSM OFF' and 'LOW Brake fluid' warning lights come on at the same time. The fluid level is higher than MIN but lower than MAX When I turn engine off and restart, the lights go away until I drive another on/off ramp at high speed or corner sharp on track. Bled brakes 5 months ago by reputable shop. Should I top off brake fluid reservoir and see what happens? I don't understand why both lights are coming on at the same time. Bothe PSM OFF light and low brake fluid light appear at same time Brake fluid is above MIN but not to MAX

POST 2Original post

Add some brake fluid, bring it up to max and see what happens.

POST 3Original post

Happens all the time. Need to keep the fluid at Max or a little more. The level switch is very sensitive.

POST 4Original post

Like theprf, I keep mine just above max. Doesn't cause any harm.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok thanks, but is it normal for PSM light to appear at exactly same time?

Yes. If it senses there isn't enough brake fluid, then it assumes it won't be able to brake for you, so it turns on.
