Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm in the middle of swapping out my suspension for the ROW kit. I'm replacing everything with the pivot point. Just completed by the driver side rear and moved to the passenger side rear and found that the wishbone is bent. Has anyone ever seen this? The part is identical on both sides so I have a feeling someone picked the car up with a floor jack under the control arm. Odd thing is the bend was up (like a smile) not sure how that got bent. In fact looking at the drivers side (the one on the left in the picture) that looks slightly bent as well. Any thoughts? 2000, 996, C2, Convertible, Manual

I changed mine a month ago, right rear was also bent, which coincides with a bent rim on that side which was fixed two years ago. Never imagined that this could cause this much damage on the wishbone.

I had this on one corner of my car too when I bought it. I'm convinced it could come from improper lifting or lowering of the vehicle. Imagine if the car was lowered off a lift or jack and there was something under that arm; huge weight placed on that arm in the transverse direction, very easy to bend it. I find that a lot more likely than damage from actually driving the car. Although in your case with it being bent ends-up, that would be less likely. Mine was bent middle-up.
