Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to 'move up' from a 928 and I like the combo of looks and features best on the 996. Is this the right forum to solicit buying advice? I have been reading up on the 996 issues but don't have them all straight yet. Found a decent sounding car but would appreciate any wisdom if this is the right place to post a car I am thinking about.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want something to park at a second home in FL and drive a few days to a week a month. The 928 is fun, but I don't have a lot of confidence in it always starting. Saw some newer 911's at the dealer. too sophisticated. Saw some older ones listed privately. Love the air cooled but really think 996 is the right series. This one caught my eye because of the color and they claim to have the improved IMS bearing. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...modelCode1=911

See I already can't keep the series straight. They are all 911's to me. That Generation is the one that appeals the most. I am in the wrong forum!

Once you experience the 997 forum you'll want to be in the (996) right forum...

Clearly two distinct personalities.

POST 12Original post

997 is where the water-cooled weenies club starts. All you need is sport chrono, deviated stitching & an asynchronous aversion to 996 interiors alongside a deep love of the air-cooled interior design.

POST 13Original post

Agreed! This is why I still frequent the 996 board, even though I sold my 996 years ago. The 991 board is often worse, but not always. The 991.1 vs. 991.2 arguments are downright nasty.

POST 14Original post

Yeah those 997's boys and girls just waffle on about their sticky buttons problems and where to put the oil etc.... Real meat of the matter at the 996 forum.

I'm looking to buy a 997 like on the OP's photo, do you have one for sale?

Only on the 996 forum will you find out where to put your phone.

Let's not forget, how to properly wash a car!

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
