HI all, just purchased a 2001 911 and was disappointed to discover that with the wind deflector in, and at 6'-03", I cannot get the seat back far enough to be comfortable driving. My wife really wants that deflector in place. Has anyone come up wit maybe an aftermarket solution that places the screen farther back? Thanks. Paul

Yes! I bought the "original design" wind deflector from Cabrio Supply on Ebay. It's about 1.5" further back than the OEM windscreen. The horizontal mesh portion measures 11", if you want to compare. With sport seats I can move the seat all the way back. Due to the design of the insertion post, there is some interference with sport seats when reclining on the left side of the seatback, before I realized this I got some scratches on the soft touch plastic on my sport seats. Annoying, but they were "pre-distressed" so not really an issue for me. I still have ample room. If you have non-sport seats it would possibly not be an issue. I thought I was the only one who couldn't put the seat back far enough with the wind screen in so I never use mine. The suggestion is great but note that the eBay version doesn't fold in quarters so it won't fit in the frunk.

This is true. When I pick the kid up from soccer practice it fits vertically in the front seat, not as convenient but hasnt been an issue really.
I just ordered it and actually prefer that it doesn't fold. I will likely never need to remove it and if it deflects the wind as well as the original I'll be completely satisfied. Thanks again, Sublm8! Paul

Was this in a 996? The eBay listing specifies it provides more legroom in a 997 but no mention of 996. I cant see why from the design that it wouldnt but I dont know why they would single out the 997. Anyone have any firsthand experience with this deflector in a 996 and can confirm increased seat travel either way it installed?
