Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone identify what car this Bosch Motronic ECU is from? All I have is the ECU and no history on it. The part number suggests it could be a 996 or Boxster. But how can I know exactly? The Porsche part number is 996.618.601.04 and the Bosch number is 0 261 204 605. Any clues?

That unit will fit a 996 from 1999 only, or a Boxster from 1997-1999. The only way to know for sure where the unit came from is to connect a scanner to it in order to pull the VIN #.
