Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, car has been acting funny and then a strong fuel smell last week on one of my trips. This morning, started the car (heated garage) and came back a few minutes later with a massive puddle of fuel under car. Dripping from center of car but A-pillar area. I know some of the fuel filler necks are known to leak, but this is large. The tank shows about an 1/8. Difficult to see location in these photos, but the dripping is from tunnel area and at the front of the main undertray. I am thinking this large its either tank itself or a line of some sort under pressure. Thoughts?

POST 2Original post

Stop driving don't even start it, tow it to someone who can work on it.

POST 3Original post

Is the leak only when u turn the key or when it sits static? If when key is turned its in the supply , hp side. If static it may be the tank but i havent seen a modern poly tank split. Remove the battery and plate. This will get u access to the top of the sender. Im betting the nipple is broken on the supply hose.

I appreciate it. But I certainly wouldn't drive it. I'm more looking for thoughts on whether there are specific spots on tank that crack, line locations that are prone to issues (besides fuel filler), etc. I do ALL work on the car myself and have for the last 80k including clutches, IMS, fuel pump, all things.

Agreed. I didn't take the time before church to pull battery to check. Only thing I can think is the return line has popped or the pump has a crack on one of the nipples. Thanks! I'll update later in weekend.

POST 6Original post

Get under the car, pull the trays where it is leaking and jump the relay for the fuel pump, I think you'll find the issue quickly.
