When the top is in the down/open position, should I be able to raise the REAR windows? When I start the roof opening process, as a first step, all four windows automatically go down as expected. Once the roof is down/open though, I can only raise the front windows, not the rear. Is this normal? The rear windows open and close normally when the top is up/closed. Should the quick one-touch button function work on the rear windows like it does on the front windows where when you quickly click the button the window will go all the way up or down without holding the button? Thanks!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

On mine, the rear windows won’t go up if the top is down. I need to make a 986 “red clip” for the 996, which would (I imagine) activate the interior motion sensors and allow the rear glass to be raised.
Nothing wrong with your cab. The rear windows are inoperable when the top is down. Same for mine. I presume its a safety feature.
Ok, thank you both for the feedback. I, too, am guessing it is for safety reasons. That would be a dangerous-shaped piece of glass jutting up if it was up by itself without the front window up, too. People, especially kids, who are not paying attention and trying to maneuver out of the back seats could get injured.
You can get them to raise if you really want to by reaching up to the middle latch point above the rear view mirror. There is a small switch that is depressed when top is in the closed position. If you push that manually and hold it in, then the rear windows will operate as normally.
When the top is down the rear windows have no guide rail support. The workaround mentioned above is legit and I've done this a few times on my '04 Cab. /X3
My suggestion, leave rear windows down when top is down, do not use a work around. Porsche designed our Cabs like this for a good reason.
Thanks for all of the responses. Circling back around, can anyone confirm whether the one touch quick up an down function should be working on the back windows like it works on the front windows? Thanks.
Agree with allcool. I believe that if the rear windows are up they will either not seat with the top when it is raised or they will interfere with the top going up.
Regardless of top position, you should be able to read your Owner's Manual

I have read the manual but unfortunately my car came with the manual for the Turbo coupe and I can't find one for the convertible to view online, so that is why I have asked here.
