I've searched the forum but not finding exactly how to read the coolant level in a 2000 996. The coolant is visible when removing the cap but not clearly showing between the Min and Max indicators. Yes, the engine cold. Pictures attached. Do I keep adding or is it ok? Thanks in advance! -Rudy

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Shine a light side way from the min max marks and the level should show. The coolant level needs to be between those marks when the engine is cold.
If those pics were taken with a cold (as in sat overnight) that looks a bit high.
Pic #2: Do you see the little ribbon on the central part inside the reservoir. It is according to my experience equivalent to the max indicator on the outside. However my reservoir looks slightly different as yours, the max mark is in my case level with the horizontal flange of the reservoir. In your case I would say the level is at max as should be. Would not say overfilled. It is just a matter of a couple of centiliters. Nothing to worry about.
Thanks for the help guys! I will try the light to get a better look. -R
Also, the system holds almost 6 gallons of coolant so I don't think the min/max difference equates to an amount significant to worry about.
