Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Father and son wearing matching 911 shirts while posing next to their 911s. He got his first ride at around 3 months old so he can't help but be a fan! And yes, that is a car seat in the back of the 996 - first response I usually get is, "I thought those were two seaters?!?" Feel free to post to this thread how you're helping raise the next generation of Porsche fanatics too!

Beautiful picture! Don't spoil him too much!... but then again... spoil him... life is too short!

Great picture! My son is now 22 and he is a car guy already. Just got his first job out of college and bought a 2010 mini cooper S. He loves it....I imagine he will own a Porsche some day....or maybe I'll pass on the 951 to him when he could garage it and use it as a second car. <img src=https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/4junnTTKryEfkrhQwEE116fzDYY1PUTzXaXOIpeLPgj39Oy14RqQz2Lv-MPXrIYqyJN99nfG4CSyI1Q-fv7x5fOlyGKbESI0HgwTyI_7MrTuIl9_G1RenwqMg6tkl1vTOuJc4aRZICsuRqkiMPYCVz4G MEvwj8TotzvUORIEPMhNtXvRWLEf2Hv20lqrI3w4tE7eJoULTdOQAx1XOpg-U2Y4QM0merh-cVAG-EgI4r_fysGt6e_arkJQJJivVUEr-flEY8f_zpzeLJ7AKVNF8VHXv95IoiphzSozYyIEcQrwQBttCeoxwxxpZNIgFmv65yyTZzbeP aSqesSaaDDm5UyR-qafODk9Rjh6nVmONxm5TBQ-ys-utWsxFk_wKKKNPEHDQlTwAtflwYfVEb8KEzMIgIXQ1VOHXjX1cnLPFayaOAoULjuy0PeNs-cM-SfhBOeOoR5EfR1PRFz9XIJIgkLLmL8oFXc7krf5fh6_w-ISThvj7WS0f4eCxn2qMDlrqjt8YHPHBalSaaB_jJu1TxynIqMpHxZRL2fi7oZgq4LsVDSGZU 0rwJ8BTRt3WKXBtLlkaJiaEqd5ovWdeMzYH4JNH2pA2zI=w1423-h1067-no>

Hah. Yeah our son has been "driving" the 996 since he could hold himself up by holding onto the steering wheel and [Por]sche was his first consistent word. He alternates between Mommy's Porsche (996) and Daddy's Porsche (958d) being his favorite car. I'm really not looking forward to the car conversation in 12 years

My 3-year-old daughter has a cackle that even her (entirely disinterested) mother will admit is only heard around 3200rpm, as the PSE and variocam join forces. I'm very careful not to reward certain behaviors, but when she threw a cartoonish fit about getting in my DD-- "NO! I want 911! I want to go on a little patroooolllllll!", well....

Thanks! It really is difficult not to spoil kids though. But as long as they understand what it takes to get what they have it's all part of life's lessons. That's exactly what my daughter wants too. She just turned 16 but isn't at all interested in driving yet. But when she does drive it's a Mini she wants with the Union Jack on the roof. For right now though she's getting her mother's old Hyundai Tucson to learn in before we make the investment. Although me wanting to stick to the Porsche brand have been trying to convince her that a Boxster is a better alternative. Poor girl is the only one in the family with a P-car since her mom got the Cayenne recently. Not sure which car he likes better as the 996 makes the sounds that keep him quiet but the Cayenne towers over everything and has the panoramic roof so he can see so much more. He's only been in the 996 with the top down on short drives in the neighborhood. Can't get mine to do that yet...Good job!

He's got a better model than you. Paul, that's very nice Mini your son has there. Did he buy it like that or did he customize it himself?

Yeah I know, lighter weight plus instant torque too!

It was a special edition for 2010, they made 100 of each: the cab, countryman and the S, it has a special paint job. He loves it, it gets about 35 MPG on the highway and has a sport mode. It's a fun car to drive.

POST 12Original post

I had a 944 back in the mid 90's. #1 son (33) ordered a 2014 Cayman S. Selling it now cuz he obtained a build slot for a GT4 #2 son (29) just got his first, an '06 Cayman S. So, yes, early exposure can create a lifelong interest.
