Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In case someone is looking for these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem I got some on Ebay earlier this year from a vendor selling them for $49.

POST 3Original post

Not a lot of feedback on the seller, not a good sign...

POST 4Original post

I've been watching for a while, and the $49 ones haven't made a re-appearance since that first batch - so I'm guessing they won't. I saw this guy when he had 0 feedback, and that was a bit too much of gamble, but now that he's got at least a bit of positive feedback I figured I'd gamble a bit and ordered a set. We'll see when/if they get here. - Nick P.S.Of course, now that I've committed the $49 deal will probably reappear - when it does, you can thank me

POST 5Original post

I'm one of the people who left him feedback. I got mine a couple weeks ago and installed them in about 30 minutes. I think they look great. I'll take a pic tomorrow and post (wife has camera for school Haloween party today). The rings arrived quickly and communicated well with me. I was worried also about his lack of feddback but rolled the dice.

<shrug> I'd have done the same, especially when we're only talking $49. He takes PayPal, so it's not like you couldn't just get your money back if they didn't show up.

POST 7Original post

I ordered these for my 996 when i had it. They looked great, were an easy install and arrived quickly. No issues for me.

Cause you'll save a lot of money and no one has gotten the cheap ones and had any problems. ..and they look JUST as good and are made JUST as well.

Agreed, I got the ebay ones, look great, fast ship and great price.

<shrug> Because the eBay ones are $90 cheaper and I'll bet you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference.

POST 12Original post

Too funny, those are the exact same rings I ordered on Monday. Hope to have them in by Friday so I can install them this weekend! David

POST 13Original post

Looks like the ebay ones are $60 cheaper than Eric's. To me, worth it for OEM and a Rennlist sponser, but to each his own.

Some like to keep their mods as much OEM as possible.

POST 16Original post

Rob, I like today's avatar much better than yesterday's

Tanks mang Halloween's over, back to being a pirate ( which are better than ninjas ).

On about 99% of things I would agree with this logic, but we're talking about a plastic ring with aluminum paint on it. The OEM has no real tangible value added in this situation which was why I bought the cheap ones. I get what you're saying, but in this case i just see no reason the OEM part should be 60-80 bucks more. There is no value added there.

They actually are aluminum, and yes they are made EXACTLY the same as the OEM ones. Most people know that most MODS are after-market, anyhow. This is a no-brainer, so put DOWN The kool-aid!

Fair enough, I was just offering up an alternative and giving Eric a plug ( pun intended ). If someone's compared them side by side, it'd be interesting to hear what they say.

POST 21Original post

Eric is great and has a great reputation on every board I've been on. This is simply a situation where the aftermarket is just as good and way cheaper. I'm not gonna drive to my (wonderful) Porsche dealer (Parktown Imports) where I bought my Turbo, to buy something that is WAY over priced, if I can get it cheaper elsewhere, no matter HOW much I like my dealer!!! I want them to stay in business and all, but they must compete in a free market.

POST 22Original post

So you've compared them side by side? I don't buy anything from my $tealer. It's Gert ( Carnewal ), or since the dollar is now sheeeeeet, Sunset.
