Hello Everyone This is my first post on theses boards, I have been lurking for a long time trying to soak up all the knowledge offered on these boards. I am in the market for my dream P-car and am in a bit of a dillema. What I am looking to purchase in the next 6 months or so is a 996 GT3. It will be a car that I will drive maybe 15000 miles a year, not a daily driver. I will probably not track this car(never say never.) I love to drive and am the type of person that would drive around the block 5 times just to hear the engine rev. I am not concerned about the road noise but a little worried about the stiff ride. I am also considering a C4S ( love the wide body )and maybe a 01-02 Turbo (a Turbo is a Turbo.) I want a true sports car that puts a smile on my face every time I get in or just see it in the garage. What would you guys reccomend? GT3 or another?

The GT3 doesn't ride that bad. You need to some how drive all three and make up your own mind. All three cars will be fun to drive.
GT3 TT is more GT than sporting car, compare to GT3.
Have you driven a GT3? Ride is not that harsh with PS2's (soft sidewalls) unless the streets are really bad. Naturally, I'm biased...and never been happier than when behind the wheel of my GT3.
Go with the GT3 if you want more of a bare knuckle/race car feel. I have driven a 996 GT3 on the street and I was surprised at how comfortable the car was given its performance potential(BTW the car was a stock 6GT3). Compared to my 996 C2, the 6GT3 felt like a cup car. If I didn't need the rear seats in my C2, I would seriously consider switching to a 6GT3. The C4S and the TT are more GT cars, with the turbo being faster of course. What it really comes down to is that the 996 GT3 is a track car that can be driven on the street whereas the C4S and the TT are road cars which can produce respectable times on a track. You MUST drive each of the cars yourself, at least drive a GT3 and TT, and decide for yourself.
What, you want a GT3 but not track it, what a waste of a great car...not tracking a GT3 makes you a poser IMHO. So get something else if you are going to street drive it only...TT recommended.

From what you wrote above... definitely GT3! Nothing less.
Why would you even consider a GT3 if you have no intention of tracking it? I think that's what really defines that car over the other two choices. I don't own a GT3, but I would suspect that the ride is even stiffer than on a C4S or TT; which already are pretty firm since they both share the same sport suspension. You have to drive them all to make an informed decision. While this board is great, you will get so many varying opinions from all of us but we won't be the ones driving YOUR car in the end.
Get a GT2 and call it a day...

Get a Ferrari F355.
Any Porsche is a fun ride every time you get in it!
I have driven the C4S and the Turbo, did not get the right feel. Don't get me wrong loved the cars but did not get the thrill I am after. They felt "Soft" I am sure with the right suspension they would be fine, but love the sound and rawness of the 3. I would love to track the GT3 but here in Vancouver am very limited to tracks. Would need to head to Washington or Oregon ? (have not researched tracks) My work situation does not permit very many free weekends. I appreciate all opinons.
