I am in the market for a '00, '01, '02 996 cab and was wondering if there is a spot I can go that would list problems to look for or ways to tell if the car has been mis-treated. Don't want to buy anything owned by somebody that loves Porsche less than I do....

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yeah, that was cold......... but funny!

If possible, buy a car from an individual rather than a dealer. That way you can talk to the chap (or chapette) and get a feel for them, how they feel about maintenance, care, etc. Also a dealer is likely to have fixed all of the dings and interior blemishes, hiding past abuse (or neglect) whereas most individuals won't know or know how to get those things taken care of. Or don't care. Either way, ask for and review service records, that too will indicate loving care or careless neglect. Third alternative is to just find a car that you like and buy it. Don't obsess over it. Yeah. Right. I'm obviously on the wrong forum. Oh, and go for the '02, much nicer looking car, glass window, more power. That's what I did! Michael
Good info at Doc's site... THX Alex Like Ray's humour and the roll-over story. I'm definately leaning towards an '02. Anyone have an '02 cab in lapis blue they want to sell me?
