So I go down to my car to find -> First - apologies if you are the owner of the auto in question, but come on... Second - pics are fuzzy, but I only had a crappy camera with me. Third - The pics speak for themselves. But note the emblazened "SMALL CAR" tag for the spot. Oh, the other "small car" is a BMW Z4. Fourth - If a Land Rover Discovery is a small car, well, I must be commuting via Segway. -td

Stupidity is blind to gender, age, race and socioeconomic status. It is the last bastion of equality.
Forget the dumbo.....what kind of front end do you have, I likey.
In Cali, that would be considered a large parking space and would be occupied by a Hummer or Escalade.

So what's your point? Did the LR driver ding your car or are you just too big to get in your car if someone is parked beside you? I don't know the LR driver nor I'm a fan of the car but isn't the LR at least parking further into the spot than you plus he's parking straight? Does "Small Car" mean height of the car? If yes you're absolutely right to be angry! If not, just to let you know, the LR is just 10 inch longer and 4 inch wider than your 996. It's not really a big car. A Chevy Avalange is a big car. Its 47 inch longer than a 996 and 10 inch wider.

I have to agree with this statement.
wow, everything is bigger in Tx. :0)
Quotes source post: 4498528
Only 10 inches longer (not including the big tire I assume)? I'm glad you pointed that out, because I wasn't aware that a Land Rover Discoery was considered a small car until you informed me! I'm sure governement classification and the appearance of being a gigantic SUV was simply my misinterpretation of only "10 inches." Glad you cleared that up for me! Whew, how about good gas mileage? Does that make him a small car too! Sweet. Are you seriously saying that you consider at Land Rover Discovery a "small car." All I can say, is wow. Oh, and can I borrow a "small" amount from you then?? Oh, I was certain that the topic described my point. I'll restate it in case you missed it: ANOTHER PARKING IDIOT THREAD -td <- the idiot could be me PS: just giving you grief for taking the time to look up the dimensions of a MY00 P car, and then the dimensions of the Land Rover, and post the difference. Ya know, just bustin' your *****. -> sometimes threads are written with levity in mind.... It IS Monday

So true... so true.

I thought it was clear that you parked at the angle because you were properly utilizing a "bonus spot", and I'm not sure the difference in how far each car is pulled is an issue at all--you all appear to be behind the start of the yellow line. And no, a Land Rover Disco is NOT a small car, so you're not out of line.
At least you are not the Z4. Imagine the driver trying to squeeze into the car without dinging the LR. To make you feel better, I had one of my car fresh from the bodyshop with all the dents removed. Within a week parking at work, I got a few door dings and someone's bumper put a gash into my door.
In most parts of the world outside of North America, most drivers learn to fit their vehicles in extremely cramped spots and not damage the vehicles beside them. If there weren't plenty of other "regular" sized lots available, I'd see no issue with a LR parking in a "small lot."
there is a rhino on her spare tire!! If you ever watched discovery channel you know that those animals can't see 3 ft in front of them!
Quotes source post: 4498528
Good thing. Otherwise the LR would barely fit in the "Small Car" space.
The only problem that I have is when people who are not handicaped park in handicaped spaces. Over the last ten years, I've rarely seen anyone with a handicap park in these spaces. It's generally people who are just too lazy to walk the extra distance.
Not taking a position on this one way or the other, but you guys do know that a Discovery is not, in fact, a very big SUV, right? Sure, it's not a small car, but it's dwarfed by most American SUVs. And a loaded Cayenne outweighs it by almost a ton. Just sayin'...

Isn't that the truth, and the Hummer would have been are very own Governator's too

I'm calling biased view -> - I see that Land Rover Discovery in your sig They do make things bigger in Texas. Perhaps the garage put "small car" because "NOT HUGE SUV - MEDIUM SUV OK" took up too much space. -td <-- no problem parking today

Heck, in this situation, I think most drivers feel if their car can fit within the yellow lines and it isn't sticking out past the 'SMALL CAR' label, then they're going to park in that space. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm glad the LR driver at least made the effort to park "properly." Like you, td, I always park away from the lines (whenever it's an end-space) to give the middle-space driver as much room for error as possible. If he/she still ends up 6 inches from my car, then someone's getting keyed.

Then forgive them because they are "handicapped" in the brain.
I too always park as far away on end spaces. But more over, I purposely FIND spaces on the right side of cars and the left of walls or curbs to mathematically reduce the possibility of a door ding.
