Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have noticed that with my muffler bypass pipes, that when i punch the throttle when already moving, the car does not 'jump' as much like it did with my Fabspeed maxflo's or my stock muffler. The car still goes & makes a lot of noise (which I love) but it does not really jump like it did before... it seems to be due to the bypass pipes as it happened when i got them on, is there something I can do to get that punch back short of putting the mufflers back on?

The general consensus is that the 996 NA engine needs some back pressure in order to develop torque to its full potential, especially in the low end. What you have done by adding the bypass pipes is removed most of the back pressure. So you have sacrificed your low-end torque in exchange for a few very top-end HP and lots of noise. I would recommend going back to the one of your two muffler systems.
