Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm surprised to see that nobody's addressed the fact that the Windscreen in the Cabrio prevents you from sliding and reclining the seats back all that far. I had to slide my driver's seat about 1-2 inches forward before i was comforable with the aomunt of pressure the seat was putting on the windscreen and it really wasn't easy getting used to... With the exception of "just dealing with it" has anybody come up with any ideas on this one? any aftermarket windscreens that attach elsewhere?

POST 2Original post

I'm 6'2" tall - my windscreen rides around in my "trunk". I used it once, as it's too uncomfortable for me to drive if I move the seats up far enough to fit in the windscreen. I don't really miss it, but the wife hates to drive with the top down.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At least it's not just me. I've seen other convertibles with windscreens that go across the top of the two front seats - have any tall entrepreneurs come up with something of the sort for the 996?

POST 4Original post

I am not that tall..but I like to sit further back..and I used my windscreen ONCE...it just sits in the"trunk" of my car too. I cant use it... but I figure it is part of the Package so when I am ready to sell the buyer will be happy I have it...I guess.

POST 5Original post

i'll take it asian image.... i lost my windscreen...... so looking to get another one...... i don't know about you guys but being 5'6'' has it's privalages.... although i rather be 6 plus......sigh....... let me know asian.......

POST 6Original post

I love my windscreen... I am 6'1 and just got used to it!!

POST 7Original post

One of the few times I've been glad to be only 5'8". I consider the windscreen to be a huge qualify of life issue, and one that enables me to have the top down under far more variable temps / circumstances than I would otherwise.

POST 8Original post

the windstopper kind of has that privacy feel to it..... when i don't have it, it feels a little nude to me......

POST 9Original post

Two 996 Cabs in 8 years, never used windscreen.

POST 10Original post

LOL - both my wife and I are 5'4". Everyone always remarks upon how much room there is when they get in the back of my wife's BMW.. we always tell them it's not the car, it's 'cause we have seats all the way forward! The windscreen in semi-permanently attached in the back of my cab. Thankfully, you can close the top with it up so I just leave it there for the summer... There *are* certain advantages to be smaller.. this, and the fact that I can curl up in the coach seat of an airplane quite comfortably and take a nap.. - Nick

POST 11Original post

I am 6'-1" and sit with the seat all the way back in my cab and it doesn't hit the wind screen unless I have the seat back tilted way back, much farther than I like in any case. The only thing I can think is that many of you like to have the seat back reclined pretty far.

POST 13Original post

Being 6'2 I guess i drive with the seat up a bit, and love the windscreen especially when your dressed up to go out and the hair looking good, put that imn and fly on the highway no tornadoes in the cab haha, big fan of the windscreen

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If you do what I do and just jam the seat up against the windscreen as far back as it can go without breaking it actually amplifies the viration of the car in the drivers seat (which usually dissapates up through the headrest) and it feels like you're in a Geo Metro with a bad tank of gas when you're at idle...

POST 16Original post

Hey Smiles...sorry I dont plan on selling it. What i meant in my post was I will just keep it with the car so when sell it...it can be there for the new owner.

POST 17Original post

Sounds like too many of y'all like to get your gansta lean on! Me at 6'1" and ALL leg have no problem since there is no reason to be that far back (however I used to). Start doing DE's and find that "sweet spot" for driving on the track and use that on the street. You'll be amazed how much more aware you are as well as better behind the wheel.

POST 18Original post

I know the problem but put the seat a little forward with the windstop. When it's on, the top is down anyway. I'm 6'6'' and have stock - non sport seats. I know what you're talking about Dell in terms of sit-position but I've currently no other option, especially at DE's with the helmet on, than sitting/laying all way back. I might get GT3 seats next (not only because of space) as it really sucks that I have currently no space to apply heel and toe. Dell, does the GT3 center console delete helps to apply heel and toe if you compare the set-up to your Cab? I fear that my right knee will always touch the shifter without the console.

POST 20Original post

So much better! In my CAB where I do not have the center console delete my right shin was always pressed hard against the console and I always had a little trouble with heel/toe but could still do it (but more often than not I would have failed a proper heel/toe). But with the delete kit you have ALOT of free room to concentrate on driving and let your heel/toe happen without thinking about it. I 100% rec'd it to anybody that needs that extra legroom.

POST 21Original post

Thanks for your reply Dell! I've just ordered my "GT3 center console delete" from Suncoast . Side note: ... I 'd be more exited if I'd just have ordered my "GT3 with the center console delete" instead of the "GT3 center console delete" - upgrade.

POST 22Original post

Very welcome! You are going to love it As for the GT3. That comes in time. You know this love for P-Cars is a disease. Sooner or later you HAVE to trade up

POST 23Original post

so true.......so true..... i only had my car since november and im looking for an upgrade already..... i need to chill a little bit cause i have a little one in the oven..... man, i think i might just have to trade down to a Range rover or something.....
