Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I am in the middle of my first ever DIY, besides clear sides, and I have a quick question. Oh and I took pics of procedure to post for you guys. I will decrease size and upload later. I am looking to order another alternator, but I have found sites that offer both OEM and Bosch, with OEM slightly more, what is the difference, aren't they both made by bosch? see link http://catalog.drivewire.com/drivewi...tion=000573340 http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0 What do you guys think? While pelican has different alternators for tips vs manual, but the Drivewire said they were both the same?

POST 2Original post

I have never seen an alternator that could not be rebuilt for less money exept for physical damage. Most local electronics or auto stores can get it rebuilt for you. You might want to check that out first. Don't scare the shop and say it's an alternator from a Porsche,....it is just a Bosch, most likely made in GB.

POST 3Original post

porsche alternators are just bosh units, but ive never had any luck getting rebuild kits for them so if find a place that can get them let me know

POST 4Original post

That's quite a price difference between the alternator for the tip vs. manual.

Can you give us an idea of what amounts those are? Which is more?
