I was wondering, if you could not have a porsche what would you have instead? I see a lot of guys for one reason or another going for an m5. I guess for me I would go for an Aston db9, Continental GT or one of those fast S benz's.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Unlimited budget: F360 with manual transmission. Tight budget: Mazda Miata
My preference is I like the Ford, I mean Aston best of all, next is the VW Phaeton, Oops, I mean Bentley, and last is the Girlie car the MB SL.
I would go with the BMW 650. I was very torn between that and the 911. I chose the 911 because I wanted a more raw true sports cars. I can see in a few years getting something a bit more tame in a GT like the 650.
360 Challenge Stradale
Chevy Corvette ZO6. Did I really say that? Had many Corvettes in the past, all fun cars, but not as much fun as the 911. Tom L 2002 C2
77 pinto
'63 Split-Window vette.
Audi S4
'99 F355 Spider, Audi RS4, or E90 M3.
Audi RS4 (still have the option, this or a GT3...) E30M3 (Evo III rebuilt) E36M Lightweight AM8 I think? (Dell, wasn't this on your list, now its a GT3!!) 360 CS Ok, and a Gallardo for the Bling factor!
m5 or m3 if convertible - if on a budget
Money not a factor : Ferrari F430 Spyder !! Realistically : Corvette Z06 2006. Cheaper than 911 : Miata (but its kinda girly ... maybe a new front bumper?) Of course, this is assuming that Porsche never existed in this world. But it does ... and so does the 911
Lotus Exige!
dreamland - mclaren f1 or enzo same budget as the 911 - 2003 m5 (it has a manual tranny) budget - 06 subaru sti or a cheap 1.8t a4 to go with a Ducati 999s
M3
Ferrari 430 or BMW M5
Aston Martin DB9...shaken, not stired
KIA Rio!
A wallet full of money!! If I couldn't get any Porsche, I'd probably end up with an early '80's Ferrari 308 (and a whole lot of maintenence bills!!)
Aston
YOU GUYS ARE ALL TRAITORS!!!! I would get the new 997 Turbo...bring it to RUFF and tell them to make it (even) better...but don't change the colors to their ugly green and keep the original P batches on the car...including the steering wheel......and I would move to Germany..so I can really drive the P everyday at 200mph!!! I am a dreamer!!!!! and take my 996 cab down the PCH in SoCal with the top down and enjoy the ocean view.....
oh and if I was on a budget..I would buy like I did my P 99 996 cab and facelift the front and mod the interior!
F430 360CS exige
Aston Martin V8 Vantage...sex on wheels.
I'd get a Lambo or Ferrari. Next car must be hand built.
No budget - F430, SL65 AMG. Replacement - M5 Budget - EVO

If Porsche was not an option (shuddering at thought), I'd be back with BMW: 1-M6 2-M5 3-E30 M3 Astons and Ferraris are fantasy land for me. I suspect I am not alone here in appreciating Porsche's combination of performance, utility and value (including purchase and maint costs, and depreciation). So, without Porsche as an option, not sure how an Aston or Ferrari would address my practical concerns. -- M P.S. Damn I would love an AMV8 though!
I agree, love my S4. Also love the Lotus Elise (as a weekend car/track toy)
Lambo Gallardo
"Lambo Gallardo" I was in the bmw dealership the other day talking about cars as you do and I meantioned I may get a Gallardo this year and they guy said some parts melt on it or something. You guys heard anything about this?
