Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I introduced myself last week, and everyone agreed that the first thing I should do is to change out my amber sidemarkers for clear ones. Well, here she is!

POST 2Original post

And so it starts...I know you will love modding the car, its allot of fun

POST 3Original post

Side markers look good. You have started down a VERY slippery slope! BTW, jchamlee, what do YOU think about the clear side markers? Just curious.

POST 4Original post

The clears are a must in any 996 IMO. Looks great! Welcome aboard.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think they look GREAT! Very nice improvement. Thanks for the tip. Any more??

POST 6Original post

Enjoy the car, take to a Drivers Education event with your local PCA region and learn how to drive it. At that point you will decide what other mods you will want to do to your car depending on how often you take it to the track. As for mods that would also be fun off the track, a nice exhaust, software upgrade & intake would be cool. Congrats!

POST 7Original post

Side markers look great! That was my first mod, well after ordering a hardtop (it's a cab). I really like those wheels!!!!! Clearly not mods, but What are they called?

POST 8Original post

I beleive they are the 3.6 996 Carrera 5 spoke lightweights.

POST 9Original post

for silver cars, go with the silver hood badge, makes a big difference as well. U can find ones for under $90. Are u more interested in cosmetic or performance mods? I'm sure both, but what's your preference?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I'm not sure about the wheels - they were on when I bought her. They are 18" and I do really like them though.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

996 Jammy, You're right - both. That's a tough question. I'd probably lean towards cosmetic right now. Since the power is still new to me, I think I should learn how to drive it right, before I do too many performance mods. But I am very interested in a performance exhaust. And I'm sure I will want more power in the near future.

POST 12Original post

Car looks great. If it were mine, I would paint the brakes. It would look fantastic with those wheels. See this post: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254971&highlight=weekend I hope that link worked... mark

POST 13Original post

J, do a bunch of searches as the topics like "which exhaust?", "what wheels?", "bodykit?", and others have been discussed over and over on the board. You should gain enough insight to help decide your next 100 mods! I too am happy with the 996's performance and sinking more $ on the cosmetic side. I'll attach a pic of my silver '00 cab thats currently getting finished at the shop. The key is how much you're willing to spend, pace yourself and do your research...unlike me...who wanted to get most of it out of the way to fully enjoy my car this summer!!!hahah!

POST 14Original post

Luisjr, Thanks for the info on the wheels. I'll see where I can find them.

POST 15Original post

Looks good. I think the wheels look really, really good too.

POST 16Original post

Luis has it right on your wheels. Not sure what year your car is, but at least for '02 the ones you have are the optional upgraded 18" Carrera wheels for that year (they were pricey, but worth the great look and ride) - standard wheels at that time were 17". Car looks great. Cheers

POST 17Original post

Nice start. Have you considered tinting the windows? Also, bumperplugs and doorplugs are a must.

POST 18Original post

Like Eddie said, www.bumperplugs.com has some other neat cosmetic mods for your 996. Eric is a great guy to deal with as well.
