Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys. looking for your help. I recently purchased the oil pressure piston, spring and washer to update my motor and solve the idle low oil pressure issue I have. the updated part number for the piston is: 997 107 125 01 from the pictures i saw in the internet and the post on the part here on the forums it seams the updated design of the piston has a chamfered edge. Yet the one I received from the dealership doesn't and I don't know if I have the correct part. Here re is what I received. This is is what I think I should have received. Notice the edge of the piston is different.

POST 2Original post

I just ordered same and the pic of the actual part has a chamfered edge. That bag doesn't appear to be a porsche part either.

POST 3Original post

Look here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=104-00 You should get #5 and #23 and #24. If you click on #24 you will see it has the correct updated beveled piston. Don't know where you got your part but it could be old stock or mislabeled or somebody ripped you off. Please tell us which parts vendor you used.

POST 4Original post

That is the old part. I recently replaced one so it is familiar. You could try a file on the sharp edge....?

POST 5Original post

Unimportant. The spring is where its at (if this is actually the problem)

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 14157315

there were some reported concerns about the piston binding in the cylinder, hence the apparent new part. Whether thats actually the issue or not, who knows.

POST 7Original post

If the piston were binding you would have much bigger problems! Metal in the oil filter?!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The part was bought at the Porsche dealership. They actually sent it from the main Porsche distribution center in Mxico. I asked the parts department personnel and they told me that the part was correct with that part number and it showed correctly in their system. They have no idea about the beveled edge.
