Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have you noticed that all the new cars have front fenders that seen to flare out more than the 996's such as the 997's and Cayman? Also the older 993's flare out more. I have included a few pictures. It seems as though the trend with most of the different car manufacturers is going towards the flared out fender. This may be one reason Porsche went back to that style with the 997's. It will be interesting to see how this trend affects the value of the 996.....

I think my front fender have a lot of "flair" to it!

POST 3Original post

That is one of the reasons I chose a cab over a coupe. For some reason the cab seems wider than the coupe in the 996. I actually prefer coupes but I also don't like the tame narrow profile of the 996. My fav. Porsche is the 2005 996 C4s coupe. I don't like the rear spoiler or intrerior of a 997.

POST 4Original post

Look around, virtually every car on the road has flared fenders to some degree except the 996 and 986. Maybe in time their values will skyrocket ???? Porsche has most always marched to the beat of a different drummer. Seems they are conforming more lately, I think two of their Cheif Designers were recently hired away from Mazda and Hyundai.

Front flares? Who cares, no one can touch these lines:

Wow that is some serious Flare. Looks very exotic/cool. Who knows, that may be the direction Porsche is going.
