Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, When turning my key forward (prior to actual starting) there is a strange ticking, pinging ( about 15 pings) sound that appears to come from behind the large center console that houses the stereo, ac/heater controls etc. Can anyone offer any advice? The car is under warranty, however I want to make sure the stealership treats me fairly. Thanks much J

POST 2Original post

take it in im sure the dealer will take care of you try taking the cd out of the cd player and see if it still does it

POST 3Original post

I was also thinking CD player - either that or an imminent dashboard fire, as someone asked about a week or two ago. I would just go to the dealer if you're under warranty. However, if it's CPO warranty, CD player problems may not be covered, so you could always go to a stereo shop if you are worried about getting fleeced.

POST 4Original post

usualyy the noise your describing is from the cd in the cd player being warped. usually aftermarket burnt cds

POST 5Original post

There also mechanical mechanisms/servos that open and close direction vents to control direction of the air in the climate control system that sometimes make noise as they turning on.
