Got a pair of pen clips for the 996 ( 996 part number as well) but beats me where do these fit exactly ???

Indeed the photo above doesn't help where they go. I got two of these clips but they have no base and I couldn't figure out where exactly they go in the glove compartment. Could find anything on the parts catalogue but they are definitely a 996 part !!! Part number 99655281300

Same part but that's for the 991 ... I still cant figure where - and if- they fit in the 996 ... must do though given their 996 part number.....

Are you sure you have the right part number? This ebay listing ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/273861494459 ) is for the same part, but it looks like there is only 1 clip instead of 2, so maybe it is a fastener rather than a pen clip? The listing claims to be for 1999-2016, but the 996.1 (99-01) doesn't have a glove box.

This is turning into a small mystery. I wonder if anyone has these pen clips in their 996 cars in the glove compartment and/or in the armrest compartment. they do have a 996 part number ( as per their porsche part labels) so there must be place in the 996 where the fit !!!!

I'll be honest this is the first time I've seen such a thing. Heck, I just throw my pens and other junk in the side compartments. This little thing would aggravate me. I can't help but laugh at Porsche. They'll do anything to make a buck.

These were pretty cheap and since I got a couple I am determined to find out where they go ! I have seen them in 997s right next to the DVD unit inside the glove compartment but still to find where they go in the 996 !!!! https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/99655281300.html
