Just wanted to introduce myself first. I've been lurking here for the past few months. I currently own a BMW 540 6spd and have decided to part ways with her for the 996. Keeping it German, but needing more of that sports car feel. The 540 has been good to me (sometimes), but I've always loved the Porsche and I'm finally in the market. I still have a lot of research to do before I pull the trigger on one, but I didn't want my first post on a new forum to be a "question".

I made the same move, from my 2001 540i 6 speed to a 2002 Carrera 4S - generally, it's been great, but I wish at times I'd bought a lesser 996 and kept the 540i too. You don't realize until it's gone what a fantastic car it really is.

Depending where you are located, chances are there is somebody from this board in a place where a car you like is that you cannot look at. Just post on up if you find something and there will almost always be somebody to get a prelim PPI for you.
