Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All, Any ideas on how to cover or repair this trim piece to make it look more acceptable? Finding the original wood piece which was glued on is near impossible it seems.

POST 2Original post

Check out directcartrim.com it’s a an appliqu but it might do the job.

This company can apply a real wood veneer to apparently any solid surface: http://maderaconcepts.com/ A lot of our light burr veneer has delaminated, and we may get quotes from them to redo it all in a dark burr, which I think will look great against Savanna Beige.

You can also look at having it hydro dipped. Lots of places that will do it.

I'd just paint it black - it'll match the screen surround. I'd do the same with the piece around the climate control. Easy peasy, move on...

Several companies (SEM is usually the most popular) make paint intended for painting plastics. There is a good chance you can get a shade that matches the Savannah Beige in your car to paint that piece.

Autozone's "Bumper Kote" would get that trim piece close enough to the radio bezel/surround. I used that stuff extensively on my 986's interior (including the horseshoe and both window door pocket covers), and I resprayed the center console in my Corvette with the stuff. "Bumper Kote" may be succinct, but "90's-vintage, sorta-black automotive interior restorer in a can" would not be entirely inaccurate.

If the piece that remains is perfectly smooth, then you could wrap it if you can find a burlwood matching wrap. Might be worth $2.99 to see if honey burlwood is a match -> https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rwraps-Wood...1c2136e649c0ec If it's not perfectly smooth, then wrap won't look good even if you get a match. Seems like painting it black with the same sheen as the radio faceplate would be good. If you wanted Savanah Beige, you can get exact match leather dye from several places. I would be helpful to know what type of material that is where the wood used to be -- that will impact what you can use to color it.
