My car currently has 225/40/18 tires on the front with 7 1/2"rims and 265/35/18"on 10 rims on the rear. The front tires are about a 1/4" wider than the rim at the corner tread block and look aggressive. But the rears are narrower that the rims at the corner tread. This gives the tire a slight v shape from the ground up and looks a bit weird to me. I want to put a wider tire on the rear and know the stock (2002) rear is a 285/30/18. I also know the 295/30/18 is closer in overall diameter to the 265 and I can mount either on the 10" rims. My question is: Does anyone know which will achieve the look I want and is it tire brand specific? I have noted comments where the width at the tread block varies a little. I don't want the 295 if it will look "pinched" at the rim. I want a neat square look to the tire, just a bit wider than the rim. Anyone know what I am after and what will work? Geez, the details that a Porsche affectionado (nut) worries about and will spend money on. If my wife saw this post she would blast off! Bill

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I hink the 295's would be best! I have 18x8 w/225/40/18 and think they loo to small. My rears and 18x10 and have 285 etc and look good. I tok off heavy 19's that previous owner had on and car rides much better and lighter on its feet. R
