Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need your help diagnosing an issue with my 2001 996 Coupe. After being warmed up and driven for about an hour the front of the car groans and moans at every bump and turn in the road. Even when stopped, I can duplicate the sounds by turning the wheel from side to side. It makes the groans even when the steering wheel is moved just a bit i.e. I don't have to move to full lock. I think it may be the steering rack, power steering unit, pulleys, bearings or belts related to these. The noise is isolated at the front end. The wheel hubs all seem to be fine. There are no leaks, no excessive heat anywhere - just this maddening groaning once the car has been driven for around an hour. The car has H&R coilovers. Alignment and 4 corner balancing specs all check out fine, the car tracks straight and there are no other issues. What do you think it is? Thanks for the feedback in advance!

Don't own my Porsche yet so sorry if this sounds dumb... Could it be power steering fluid is low? or. Low tension on your power steering belt?
