I'm moving to Chicago in two months and was wondering if anybody has recommendations on dealerships in the area? Also, has anybody gotten great deals on a new 996 coupe 6M now that the 997 is supposed to come out in a couple of months? Thanks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Welcome to the area! You'll love it here through October, but get ready for the winters -- sorry, just no fun without the P-Car. I've used Scott at Motorwerks of Barrington and like his work/advice a lot. Others have had good dealings with a dealer in Highland Park (I think that's it) -- supposed to have some very nice new facilities. Good luck with the move.
Thanks! I'm coming from Ohio with a 2001 MB CLK 430 on Bridgestone Blizzaks, so the winter driving will be covered by that, but I'm strongly considering a 996 because I miss my old 993 (which I sold back in 1995 with 1977 miles on the odometer).
Both the Porsche Exchange and Motorwerks of Barrington are good though for service I'm partial to Scott from Motorwerks. Welcome!
Loeber has just purchased Lynch, and all the key Lynch people have transferred to the new owner. Andrew Smith in sales has always been very fair on purchase terms. The service manager is Bill Lindahl who has also been competent and beyond reasonable on standing behind the product (I got 4 free tires when my Pirellis were ruined by a day at the track). A lot depends on where you're living. Lincolnwood is nearer the heart of Chicago than the 2 mentioned above. You'll definitely need the Blizzaks on the MB. Welcome. AS
Both are really good when it comes to service. I prefer The Exchange based on convenience (no offense Scott!) as it's easier to get to for me from downtown. It's also fun to go there for no reason at all on a Saturday morning when you get to talk to other Porsche owners - people like Bob from PCA Chicago with his very distinctive Boxster for example - more of a clubby feel than dealership.
Scott is our service guy at MW's. I've heard good things. Alex and myself are racers, DE instructors, and PCA members. Last week we raced karts with the guys from the exchange. Both are competent (no ones perfect, we're all human), I prefer MW's for the obviuos reasons Alex & me were 2nd overal and 1st in SM at the 10hr gingerman enduro last fall.
The Exchange has been very good to me so far. The last time I went in for service they were very helpful and got me out quickly.
