Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm thinking of adding them to my '04 cab. My dealer wants $2k installed. Is that a good deal, or at least a competative one? Also, everyone seems to like the look of side skirts on this board, as do I. Other than the cost, is there any mechanical/practical/other reason NOT to get side skirts? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I would have to say it sounds like a good deal........Go for it!! Only reason not to get the side skirts is ONLY IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM

POST 3Original post

GBG, I got my side skirts for $595 and cost me $200 for the paint job. Installation was a breeze took no time at all. $2k sounds a bit steep for the complete job. I thought I read somewhere in the forums someone paid under $1000 for the skirts including paint work. Thank means from the $2k quote you have $1k is install?????

POST 4Original post

I spent about $600 on parts and paint, and it took about an hour to put them on. It is pretty easy if you are a DIY kind of person.

POST 5Original post

Orient Express, your car looks great! Where did you buy the side skirt parts? Was it somewhere here in the Bay Area, or mail order? Also, did you install the aerokit (aka GT3) front bumper? If so, did you buy it from the same place? Cost? Thanks a lot.

POST 6Original post

You should be able to get everything done for somewhere around $1600 or lower in the Bay Area.

POST 7Original post

Kirby, Your car looks great. That's the look I want, the aerokit front and sides only. Did you add that stuff on, or did your car already have it? If you did the add on, can you recomend a good place to buy the parts? I have a body shop connection, so paint and install won't be a big deal, but I'd like to know where to get the best deal on the parts.

POST 8Original post

I got the side skirts from Claridges, that was a mistake as you can get them online cheaper than any dealer. I'm not sure where the best price is online, but online is where you'll find the best prices. Many people on this board can help with what shop has the best price and service. The front bumper I got from Foreign Affiars in FL They were having a special and I picked it up. Again, shop around online and you'll find a good price. I think for the Skirts $500-$700 is a good range and $800-$1300 for the front bumper. You have a body shop connection? I might be getting a wing and I need a place to paint and install.

I got my side skirts at the parts counter an Carlsen in Redwood City, and the paint was done by Mathew Carlsen bodywerks in Palo Alto. Thanks for the nice words about the nose, but it is dead stock.
