Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Obviously the C4S, C4, and TT are all all wheel drive. But are they the same system exactly? Are they calibrated the same way with the same ratios and all that? I'm just trying to figure out how mechanically close this C4S is to a Turbo... Same brakes, suspension, body (mostly), interior, etc...AWD system? Does the C4S differ from the C4 in some way beyond body, brakes, suspension?

POST 2Original post

I have a 2002 C4S. In my research, it is my understanding that the C4S and the turbo are exactly the same in the suspension and brake components with relation to parts. The suspension on the C4S matches the turbo to accommodate the larger rear tires(295-30ZR18). I also believe Porsche calibrated the shock valving on the C4S for the small weight difference between the cars. The C4S is lighter. The differences for the C4S are no turbos, no side intakes for the intercoolers, a unique front chin spoiler, a unique rear spoiler (Different size from C2), and of course the ubiquitous rear brake reflector that goes all the way across the rear. The interior is the same coming standard with full leather and both cars come standard with PSM. I have driven both and the only differnce (other than power, obviously) is that oddly the clutch felt lighter in the turbo. I have heard this from others as well. I cannot comment on the C4 or the Audi. Hope that helps.

POST 3Original post

the AWD system on all three cars is exactly identical in the 996. the C4S only differs from the regular C4 by body, brakes, and suspension, as you mentioned.

POST 4Original post

I thought the C4s and C4 use the 996 motor and trans, not the Turbo motor and trans. Roy
