Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

well, um... yeah. if you financed the car you were in the hole as soon as you drove off the lot.
Were you doing a trade in? The dealer will low ball you 10k easy.
Owned It's worth it though, isn't it?
Nick, Ouch. What were you out shopping for the next car? You just got it what like a year ago? Damn boy, no wonder you have no equity in it :-) Anyways, 996s -- like Audi's -- depreciate like rocks. I got what I thought was a helluva deal in August and I'd still take a bit hit today. Actually, my problem is that I would have a hard time picking a replacement. The only P car I want is a GT3 and I decided that the 996C2 + Lotus Elise was a better $100K solution than just a GT3. My wife's M3 has 100K miles on it but honestly nothing out there really interests us much. The Rx8 would be our choice but a bit underpowered. The STI and Evo are a step up in performance but down in quality and style. So, we're going to stick with the M3 for now. Oh well, they're paid for so I guess I won't worry about depreciation. -Dave '00 996 C2 aero '97 M3 '00 A4 1.8tq '89 M3 '05 Lotus Elise ordered
Yeap... I know. Dave - I'm not getting rid of it. I was jsut curious and looked at KBB. BostonMarkC - yes, it's worth it!
I find it interesting that porkers are depreciating so badly in the US. Here in the UK, Boxters and 996s hold at 78% residual after 3 years. This beats any other marque! But here's a thought. The sticker price on a new C4S here in the UK is as much in pounds sterling as it is in dollars in the US. So, it's about 70,000 here and in the US about $70,000. That means with a residual of 78%, you would be worth trying to ship your left-hooker to the UK and selling it here. It would be a win-win situation. You could sell it at a good price and the UK buyer could buy it at a cheap price. An Example: my 2000 C2 Cab with all mods is worth about 50,000 now. That's about $73,000 !!! In the US the same car would fetch maybe $35,000. Half as much. Another example: A new GT3 in the US is about $100,000. That's about 56,000. er like that's not much more than my 4 year old 2000 C2 Cab! On the other hand a GT3 is about 100,000, that's about $180,000. Like I could buy two C2s and have change in the US for that! So, any of you guys wanting to setup business with me on this. Just hollar
