Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i just took it in today for what i figured was the rms since my 99 had the exact same problem and sure enough the rms is leaking and my clutch was slipping on hard starts. car just now hit 3000 miles

POST 2Original post

Welcome to the club. Mine's in for its second RMS in 6 weeks! I am starting to think I should buy some Porsche shares. Looks lile Pork Belly is out this Xmas

POST 3Original post

I redlined my 03 cab in first gear.. then shifted into 2nd and the clutch just spun... couldn't handle it Does that mean my car is going to suffer from RMS? It isn't leaking any oil below.... 'yet'...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ya thats exactly the way my clutch does, and you can't dump the clutch from a stand still if it's 2 grand or higher or it will spin, not that i do that all the time but it is irritating

POST 5Original post

Remove the psm/tc and the car will spin just the way you want with less burden on the clutch disc... ..not to often though! Waz

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i don't have traction control on mine

POST 7Original post

I don't mean to P&M, but what is it about this problem that has the "best" automotive engineering company unable or unwilling to solve this problem over 5 or 6 calendar years What is it about this problem that has beffled great engineering minds. I'm beginning to think it was more like management apathy. Has there been another more nagging problem in the history of the modern 911? If so I'd like to know that it is. In fact I wonder what the top 10 worse engineering or assembly defects has the 911 suffered in it's history. I mean really, Porsche does NOT make that many automobiles each year.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i'll give a little prop where it is due, the boxster loaner they gave me "03 tip" does handle a tad better, however it is extreeemely slow, uncomforatable as hell and i bang my head every time i try to get out of it, i guess im spoiled to the 996 but this thing alot of people rave about have apparantly not driven a 996, i was astonished when my wife pulls up beside me in her MB C320 at the lite by our house and just wastes this boxter from the start, oh well, guess thats why i bought the 996

POST 9Original post

I am glad I waited... an 03 with the same issues as early production cars... that is just sooo wrong... I wonder if the 997 will be the same disposable engine... These things should last many many years without issues like these...
