Has anyone seen this (from Autospies.com, http://www.imakenews.com/autospies/e...e000205341.cfm )? Dear 001, Porsche is not sitting back idly watching sport car sales slide... I just heard that the 997 will show up FOR SURE as a 2005 model. My sources tell me it could be revealed as early as the Detroit Auto Show. How about these rumors...My sources tell me to expect GT3 type performance on the new 911 with its 450HP Twin Turbo engine, under the hood. I'm glad they're getting serious again because the current model is to tame compared to E55's, RS6's and M5's... All bodies on the 997 are wide-body...like the C4S and revert to the older style round 911 headlamps (AMEN BROTHER!). I always thought the boxster type headlamps on the 911 were a mistake. It would be like Rolex changing to square watch cases... Your man in Milan, Sergio Auto Spies update: The Spies anonymously surveyed two dozen US Porsche dealers this week and all of them confirmed they are expecting a significantly improved 911 (exterior and interior) in model year 2005

That's wrong, I have spoken with someone that has seen the 997 - it is like a major face lift, as for all models being wide bodied. No chance, what do they offer the Turbo people ? Yes, my contact works for Porsche - he saw it 4 -5 weeks ago. Yes the headlights are round and the indicators are in the bumper, with an interior change.
Oops, 996 = orphan. Reminds me of the 964. Lease dont buy.
What about the rumor about the horse power? It certainly does seem like current Porsche 996's are under powered vs. all those other cars mentioned above. If Mercedes, BMW, etc. keep increasing the HP on their cars and Porsche doesn't keep up, eventually Porsche will lose it's reputation as a high end performance car, no?
"Lease don't buy" is what my salesman suggested on my new C2 exactly because of the 997 huge improvement issue. Still, with a lease it's expensive money unless you know a great stock which....
Webtool come back to us, your message was cut off, what was that great stock again?
