Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am lucky to own both! (R1 and C2 though) Ocean Blue and Yamaha Blue I wonder how the C2 would have done.... I think I am not the only one on this board though... where is Carlos? Thanks for the video! Awesome! -Freddy
As mentioned in the video, presumably, the C2 would be faster.
Hey Freddy, Ocean Blue C4 and Suzuki Blue GSX-R1000 here too That video is from Jeremy Clarkson'd Head to Head DVD. And yes, the C4 was marginally faster but only because of the type of track Jeremy PURPOSEDLY choose. As you can tell he is no sportbiker or even like 'em so he wanted to make sure the car would win so he choose a very short and curvy kart-type track with NO straights whatsoever and full of tight corners so the bike is never allowed to be upright to fully accelerate (not even in the straight but it was fast enough to use full throtle so you saw what happened there) and favoring the car's greater curve speed. Now, I own a C4 like the one on the video and a GSX-R1000 and I can tell you my gixxer would kill my C4 or C2 in any other normal track that is not made for Go-Karts, don't be fooled by this biased video the acceleration difference will more than make up for the greater corner speed of the C4 by a long shot. The C2 would have not done any better in such a of type of track either, on a different track the C2 would have done a bit better than the C4 but then again in another track the bike would stomp both of them so... If the 8mile north loop of nurgburgring is any indication of how they perform in real life, the C2 laps about 8:17 max and a Gixxer1000 should run at least about GT2 times, 7:45's. Or Hockenheim which is pretty tight, 1:16 vs 1:10. Thats the diffrence.
Carlos, I completely agree with you. I think we both know who wins in the real world as well as on a real track. The R1 never has a chance to open up. All I can say is that I still get a little scared EVERY time I open up the R1 after 2 years of ownership and 6000 miles. No "pucker factor" on the 996. Cheers! -Freddy
I'm on my second GSX-R1000 now and I still get that feeling too, its called common sense afterall these are the two most radical bikes on the market too...
I raced lots of bikes and i can say the GSXR1000 and the R1 are forbidden territory, at least on the long stretches with very large radii curves... they're way too fast for a regular car. As for the others, the 600's and 750's, i was able to keep the pace as long as it was over the 100mph speeds, and i used to overtake them very slowly over the 150mph speeds... these were great moments! I miss them damn bikers! Waz
Hey Waz, long time no see! I bet you miss those highways now how is the police with respect to speeding at the new place?
Ahhh... common sense, is that the thought after the buzz ( a feeling of fear & anxiety during sustained high speed on a two wheeled vehicle)?
Hi Carlos, sorry been busy starting the new life here.. Highways here are quite nice, controlled by radars (news to me!!), i guess you cant have it all in life, it's either speed uncontrolled crappy unsafe 2 lane-only roads in Lagos OR tech art, ripple free, horizon-pointing 200mph safe roads with a watchful police eye everywhere.. go figure! Waz *patiently awaiting the new P*
A couple of weeks back, I was in a 25 car Porsche convoy on a relatively empty, and very fast, highway in Malaysia. The convoy was cruising along at 230-240 km/h (c.150mph) on the fast lane when we came up on 3 superbikes - 1 of which was an R1 - on a very large radius turn. The bikes let about 1/3 of the convoy past and then the R1 decided to have a bit of fun with us. He was zooming up and down the convoy with ease - and that's with us maintaining the steady cruise speed. It was absolutely amazing watching the bike accelerate away from a 150 mph convoy (on both straight and mildly curved sections). The bike was an awesome machine and the rider had ***** of steel.
Tried the link but nothing. Is the video still there?
