Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone, I'm new to this board so I thought I'd introduce myself and ask one question. I've always been loyal to BMW, I've had two E36 M3's, a E39 540i (6spd) and currently drive a E46 M3 (6 spd). Someone I work with recently purchased a '03 C4S (6spd) and its so smooth and easy to drive that I've decided to order one also. Originally, I had planned to order the new M5 due out next fall and is currently my second choice. I realize the new model 997 is coming out either next year or thereafter so I'm guessing that I should be able to get a pretty good deal. Total msrp is approximately $102k with all the options I selected (aero kit, nav, carbon steering wheel/shift ****, premium sound, sport seats, HID lights). A dealer in LA is willing to sell it to me for $93k, or a $9k discount. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Also, if there's anything I should be aware of, criticisms, problem areas, that would be great as I'll be using this as my daily driver. Thanks, Michael

POST 2Original post

i just recently purchased an 03' C4S with a $9K discount. I could have gotten a bigger discount if i were patient enough but I was in a rush to purchase before Oct 1st b/c of the car tax. IMO, $9k off sticker on an 04' is excellent, though it's always fun trying to milk them for more. Ask for clear bumper signals, t-shirts, key chains, maybe even a free case of oil (Mobil1 0w-40) This car is my daily driver and i have no complaints. The only thing that worries me is car dings, rocks chipping the paint and the occasional scratching of the front bumper on steep driveways. Other minor issues is that Porsche engines are notorious for burning oil. You have to add some oil to the engine approx once a month or depending on how often you drive. The Porsche won't have as much storage space compared to your M3 and the back seats are worthless if the person sitting in the back is older than 10. In the end You will be very happy with the car as i was.

$9 off is excellent. I just ordered an '04 C4S for $7k off of the MSRP of about $91k. I got this deal only by calling out of state dealerships until I found such a good price. The best deal that I could get from any of the three local dealerships was $3k off.
