I plan on getting the V1 hardwired into a C2 coupe - what is the best place for the detector - driver or passenger visor? Or is there another place. If I get the remote display, what is the best place for that? Does that automatically disable the main V1 display? Would I need the remote V1 speaker for audio alerts? I have seen the remote positioned above the steering column - any other suggestions? I will also be driving in DC and would like to be able to have the remote in a place where it cannot be seen, or installed in a way that it can be removed and stored. Thanks

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. I have seen the mirror display, and discussed it with an installer, but he pointed out that the V1 should sit by the window anyway, so it is moot to have the display in the mirror. It is useful for a remote mounted unit. The advantage of the V1 remote display is that it can be mounted in a discreet location.
winovin, one of the guys on 6speed has a line on a guy that does custom installs, uses a laser cut mirror (like the beastpower), and all the mechanicals are hidden...its like $3k tho. Darren has done it...
Basically I'm not so sure I would invest in a V1 if I were going for absolute concealability. Instead I would just buy a K40 or another unit that is designed to be truly concealed. In the past though I have found it annoying to spend over $1k on a K40 only to end up trading it in with the car or selling it with the car. Nobody ever seems to truly care on the buying end that you have a very nicely integrated radar detector built in.
In case you want to install it yourself, here's a good DIY. It took me about 90 minutes... http://www.986faq.com/7-0/v1.asp Best place for the concealed display IMO is on top of the steering column. My $0.02...
It is my understanding that the police have quite a few of the newer series receiver oscillator detectors around these parts. Does anyone know how effective the V1 is at LPI, or Low Probability Intercept?
