Hi. I have a bit of a problem. I went to take my hard roof off today as the rear window heater isn't working however the drivers side bolt releases but the roof doesn't lift off. The passenger side does but I'm not sure why the driver side doesn't. I have had the roof off about 4 times this year so don't know what the issue is. It's driving Me mad. Any ideas?......... Thanks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Maybe a daft question, but why have you had the top off and on in the first place so many times? Have you been having a problem with it for a while that we should be knowing about? Did the top come with the car or did you add one from another car after you bought it? What year is the car?
Is the car parked on level ground? What type of fasteners, bayonet or screw? Sometimes my bayonet type will stick at the final 1/8 turn of the release tool and I have to give that corner a little "jiggle" to get it free. Try lifting the driver's side while you loosen the fastener. Did you try releasing drivers side first? Maybe that will pop it out.
Hi. I had the roof off to clean and move house etc. it's the original one that came with the car. Not sure what type it is on the roof. I think it's the one with the spikes you can only turn it so far. It makes that u clip sound when I do turn it but won't seem to allow me to lift. I'll try the wiggling thing later see what happens. Is there any way of getting to the part the roof bolt links into without removing thr roof?
When moving house, did you put the caps back in to prevent something small from dropping into the hole where the roof spikes enter. Maybe some small piece of plastic or a screw fell in there and you followed it up with the roof. Just a thought. Open all the windows and get someone to assist with the lifting or releasing of the rear part of the roof. Like a long piece of two by four wood covered by a towel each end to protect the top. A level lift maneuver should do the trick. As you both lift, the rear should come out first, followed by the slots at the front. If it comes out then comes the inspection via a flash light and a little WD40... one of my easy fix liquids haha.
Ok update. It's off. I loosened the nut under the spring and it gave me enough room to allow the pin to line up with the slots and pop off. The new problem is I have now resoldered my rear window Heater pad but it keeps blowing fuses. Think a auto electrician is in order!
