I went to pcar dealer here and found a '99 manual 996 which looked very nice (girlish blue-green color more like the wimbeldon green but lighter)... what surprised me is that it didnt the have T/C-button and dealer said T/C is an option on '99 cars.. some just dont have it. I told him it's pretty dangerous to be under a loose differential all the time (funny for some slides and donuts at times,,, but...!) Bad color, no T/C, bad timing.. I'll check again next month.. Waz

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Electronic traction aids were not an option on '99 model year (not US anyway), but there was LSD option.
I believe T/C (with ABD) was an option on 99 but you still had the good olde sporty mechanical LSD standard (like the GT3 or GT2).
And that color was called "Ocean Jade Metallic"
I got mine used. It has no visible TC switch, under wet condition I do get warning TC light on dashboard. IS IT THERE? 64K question?

My late build 99 has a traction control switch...came with the optional TC/w ADB. TC was a $ 1,215 option Perry
