Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What I mean is just what can these cars take. I just went from Boxster S to an 03' 996. The roads in the N. East are terrible and I'm afraid of just plain killing this thing driving around here. Like alignment and turning into a rattle box. Any thoughts. Thanks <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

POST 2Original post

There's an article in one of the Porsche mags I read recently that goes into some detail about the fantastic road conditions in Germany but there is one road that has been intentionally left in bad condition with pot-holes abound. It leads to the porsche factory. According to this article they left it like that as a tester. Everyone including engineers haveto drive down this road and its there to test out and prove the roadworthiness of the marque. I will try and dig it out (if my wife hasn't chucked it!). My c2 Cab has lowered suspension and 19" wheels and it is far from what one would call a comfy ride. The 996 is a tight car too. So every bump is felt. But that's all part of the sporty feel to these cars. I use mine for every day use and I have taken it down some very bad roads. I can assure you, don't worry, this car can handle it. Obviously, you do have to whatch for those nasty pot holes but riding it along a bumpy road should not shake up the alignment and it hasn't yet turned my 996 into a rattle box. It's a cab too so theoretically it should rattle more than a coupe but it doesn't! Cheers, Scouser

Well having the row 030 suspension and on the nicely paved pothole roads of San Francisco though bumpy as hell car hasn't started any new rattles when compared to the stock suspension. I've got 35k miles on it and as long as you're not rally crossing : ) car should do fine. Regards. Mike

The main thing you need to worry about is bending your wheels.
