Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have had my 2001 C2 6-speed for about two weeks. I noticed that there is some play in the shift handle from side to side when in gear. I just measured this and the play is about 3/8" in all gears when measured at the top of the ****. Is this normal, or should I take it to my local (100 miles away) dealer to get it repaired?

POST 3Original post

I have an 01 C4 6 speed. Same play with factory shifter. I upgraded to B&M Short Shift and no more play, but it sure is fun to play with it (sorry for the play on words). Mike

POST 4Original post

An option to the B&M is the evo swingshift. I have one and love it. Roy www.evoms.com

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to all who responded. Looks like I need to get a short shift kit if I want better shifter performance. Sounds like the B & M is the most popular. I probably will get one this fall and do the install then.

POST 6Original post

Best price on B&M is at Foreign Affairs Motorsports. Talk to Bobby at [phone removed]. That's where I got mine and others on this board paid only $199! Regards, Mike
