Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Every time I go to put the Plenum back in I have the same problem. Maybe someone here has the solution. On my 99 cab, each of the two large rubber joints on the plenum have small holes through them where two vacuum hoses get their vacuum. The problem I have is that when I'm fitting the plenum and rubber joints back in place, I have a very hard time verifying that the vacuum hose connections are not covered or blocked in some way. Is there any easy way to get past this problem? One method I just used was (outside the car) put the left rubber boot on the plenum to its proper position so that I can tell the vacuum pass though is in the right place, and then tighten down the left boot onto the plenum. Next I put the right boot on the plenum so that it is very loose. I then wiggle the entire thing into place. Then I slide the boots and plenum around until I could see that the vacuum pass through on the right was visible and all the boots etc are lined up properly and then I tightened down all the remaining boot clamps. Anyway, is there a better way? I really don't understand why the vacuum lines are connected where they are (in the rubber boots), why not just have them connected to the hard plastic of the plenum and avoid the entire problem.
