Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently bought a 997 second hand shifter for upgrade and it didn't come with the centering tool. Does anyone have one I can buy/borrow? I am located in Charlotte NC. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I just had one installed. Is that the green piece that was left over? If so, yours for cost of shipping.

POST 3Original post

There's also a separate part number for this if you wanna just buy this piece from your local dealer. Just another option...

POST 4Original post

Part number 00072196191. I think my local dealer charged under $6 for it, and they mark everything up! Not worth paying the shipping cost, but discount Porsche parts suppliers sell it for about $3.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The seller found his and is sending it. Thanks for the offers. I can't wait to get this installed

POST 6Original post

Glad to hear it. You will like the upgrade. A big improvement, shifts more smoothly and precise.

POST 7Original post

+1 I did this same upgrade on my 00 C2 Cab, better in every way, smooth, solid feel & a little bit shorter throw, not much tho.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I should have it done by Tuesday and I will let you know my impressions when done. I don't think I will every beat the shifter of my old S2000. But looking forward to some improvement.

POST 9Original post

Quick (related) question; i recently picked up a ssk (not the 997 kit like in this thread) with the shifter box, but dont have a green alignment tool. Is it really necessary? Or is it more of a nice to have? Thanks!

It won't but nonetheless a good improvement over stock 996.
