I am not sure if this has been discussed but, I have heard that since Porsche cut production of MY03 cars, the build date for the 04's would be June or July. Can anyone substatiate that rumor and will it actually be June or July. One dealer told me June one said July. Also, will they still take a month off but earlier now? -Lou
The preliminary order guides were released earlier than usual this year, so I suspected this meant model year change over earlier than the customary last week of August (after the month long holiday, which runs from the last week in July to the third week in August). It could be that some June cars will be '04s and some '03, and July will be all '04s, so both dealers could be right--who knows. Regardless of when the MY change over is, this will not impact the plant shut down.
Things are obviously moving ahead in Germany at a quicker pace than here. I have a 330I Convert. on order, due to be here at the end of April, and coming as a 2004. At this rate 2005's should be here by Christmas. Perry
BMW recently announced that they were releasing the 2004 3 series now (instead of September, but not other models).
Man that ticks me off...I'm getting my car in May and it's already gonna be last years car just after a month.
My dealer confirmed that my June production car will be a MY03. I'll let you know if that changes. I will never sell my first Porsche, so I don't care what the MY is, but I can understand for resell purposes why some of you would.
Had the same talk with my dealer yesterday. All cars produced from now are 04s. But that will only be Cayennes and Boxters. 911 production has stoped to get rid of inventory he said. He is not 100% sure but because of excess inventory, 04s still will not be produced until September, earliest delivery in October.

Could he be lying???
Ask to see the pro forma invoice--it shows the model year. If he can't/won't show you, I'd be suspicious.
