Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have two 1999 3.4 engine case halves. The engine is a factory reman with the AT in the serial number, which means it has the large diameter, single row, IMS bearing machining. The engine was in a Boxster I had. It had a recent rebuild, with less than 3000 miles on it before it detonated! Rod number six was not getting oiled. The engine had fresh sleeves with steel liners. Five of the six sleeves are perfect. Cylinder number six has some damage, but both EBS and LNE said the engine cases are salvageable. LNE said it could be machined for a 3.8 and EBS said it would resleeve the one cylinder to match the other five, or do all six at a higher displacement. My question is if anyone out there may have any interest in these two case halves as cores for an engine build? I would like to have them out of my shop. They are located near Victor, New York. It is possible I can deliver to Watkins Glen if anybody is traveling there for any races or DEs. Looking for $500 bucks for the pair.
