Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone out there have a favorite place to take there P-cars to in norther NJ other then the dealer. Just checking if there are any good independant shops that do anything from oil changes to Performance Mods??

POST 2Original post

PowerTech in Rockaway is where I take my car. They are all PCA members and really know their stuff...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Chuck. Do they have a website?

POST 4Original post

Their site is not very good, but here it is: http://www.pwr-tech.com/ Talk to Mike, he is a really nice guy (he owns a 996).

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Chuck, Anything else you can tell me about their facility? Nice shop? Definatly trust them for all performance Mods? They're about 40 min from me. Where in NJ are you from?

POST 6Original post

They have either 3 or 4 double/triple deep bays, so they can work on 8 or 10 cars at a time. They also have a little store for racing items, shirts, wheels, spoilers, etc. I have only had them do routine maint. so far, but they will be doing my suspension in two weeks. I know they also do many performance mods (i.e. race car prep, exhaust, engine, etc.). They really know what they are doing and host a couple PCA tech sessions a year. I actually live in Rockaway Twp. so it is very convenient for me. But even if I didn't live near by, I would still go there. Mike is the guy I always deal with and he is very open and honest about options/recommendations/costs. In addition, I find them much cheaper than the dealer for parts (they are a Porsche authorized re-seller).

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Chuck, That was a great summary. Thanks for taking the time to tell me more about the shop. I had an appointment with Mike scheduled for tomorrow for teh B&M shifter. Only problem was that he wanted me to leave the car. The shifter takes about 1-2 hours. I was hoping to just wait for the car since it's a 40 minute drive one way. No luck, he's pretty busy right now. Still want to see his shop though. Guess I try for later in the summer.
