Hi all! New to the forum and ownership, thanks! I would like to install the single DIN PCCM (non-plus) in my 02 C4 cab. Call me weird, but I kinda like the cute little screen, don't care about navi, and I want to avoid having to move the HVAC controls. I know there was an infamous red 996 on BAT from MI that had pics of it, has anyone else done it? If so is it pretty straight forward? Thanks! Chris

Thankfully, you have an analog system; otherwise, it won't work since the single DIN classic radio doesn't support MOST transfer bus. If your car has the frunk amplifier, then you might need the special OE adapter/harness. All OEM radios send line level output via the YELLOW plug from the becker radios. Good luck!
Good luck, OP. You're going to love it.

thank you very much! I am getting a hum, I think this will fix
What did you to do mount the PCCM mounting bracket into the existing horseshoe bracket? How tough is it to relocate the cables for the climate controls?
Quotes source post: 19297079
it was tight, but the new mounting bracket slid into the hole where the old radio was. That's the beauty of the single din. I didn't have to relocate anything, just slide it into the slot where the old radio was

But the big question is did the radio need the special adapter from Porsche or did the radio by itself output the correct signal to the amp in the frunk?
Quotes source post: 19297676
it needs the special adapter (I hope im still waiting for the part.... will let you know!

What is it doing currently? Audio distorted? Too loud a lower volume settings? Or producing 60Hz hum?
Quotes source post: 19297724
I haven't been able to drive the car yet,(snow in WI& just finished new oil filler tube) but I Believe its "too loud" definitely the hum..

Yea, there was a lot of complaining about problem with hum on the non-MOST cars and thankfully Porsche came through with an appropriate harness adapter for the earlier cars. As a side note, what's going on is the audio signals outputted from the head unit must be attenuated or it overdrives the factory amplifier. The results is amplified noise. You see every audio device that produces sound has noise but usually at low db levels that are inaudible to the human ear, but when amplified, it becomes noticeable. 60 Hz ground loop hum is the most common. That being said, happy to help and see the solution worked for you! Enjoy the new audio system!

just curious if youre still loving it? Was thinking about doing the same setup. Any other challenges or harness needs when doing the install or just the one adapter you linked to eliminate the hum? Wasnt sure if the classic unit came with everything else you would need.
Yep, still great! I didn't need anything else that I can remember!

fantastic! Thanks so much for the info, been searching around to see. Didnt really want to experiment with such an expensive unit. Pumped It works, I just think the single din setup is so much better.
Hi - I recently had my dealer install the single DIN classic radio into my 2005 GT3. But I have the same hissing noise and volume too loud problems. I ordered the wiring harness suggested in this thread, but I'm unsure how to install it - it has two female connectors in black and red and the male yellow connector. I've included pictures of the current wiring in my car...
